HOUSE and MUSEUM Doctor Tomas Mena y Mesa (1802-1868) was an illustrious son of Fuerteventura, served as a doctor in Gran Canaria, Cuba, Paris and the United States. Tomas Mena y Mesa returns to Fuerteventura and establish in 1847 in his hometown The Ampuyenta, Puerto Del Rosario. He exercises his profession Physician, earning the respect, admiration and gratitude of the people of Fuerteventura. Together with his profession of physician he engages in property management in Fuerteventura and Tenerife.
Upon his death he left a sum of money for the construction of the hospital in La Ampuyenta, but this was achieved only after 60 years.

The house that he inhabited was occupied by his family, the biographer Manuel Barroso Alfaro; but then was ceded as a museum, "Casa Museo Mena", also known as "Casa de los Alfaro.
It is located in the municipality of La Ampuyenta, Puerto Del Rosario; it is a traditional house from the nineteenth century and first half of the century, wealthy family, which also shows some personal items of Dr. MENA.
