In Fuerteventura you can practice a good variety of outdoor sports, especially with the beach and sea as action place. Underwater fishing, deep sea fishing, diving, sailboarding, surfing, water-skiing and snorkling are some of the activities to participate in. Also the golf game is a much-liked leisure activity.

Among the water sports, fishing is the activity that is mostly practiced and therefore plays an important role. While some like the "fishing" of mussels (marisqueo del mejillón canario) on the coast, others prefer the underwater or deep sea fishing.
In order to conserve the natural fishing grounds and give them the possibility of regenerating properly, standards have been established prohibiting the capture of more than 5kg of fish per person a day. A group of fishers must not exceed the amount of 25kg of fish per day.
Fish being catched from the sea surface or on underwater or deep sea fishing tours shall only be used for private consumption and must not be sold.
Wind, waves and extensive beaches are the ideal conditions that Fuerteventura offers to all those who love sailboarding. Every July and August, the world championship in sailboarding takes place on the miles long beaches of the península of Jandia in the South of Fuerteventura.
Last but not least Fuerteventua is a paradise for divers, too. An year-round water temperature of between 17º and 23ºC, crystal clear water and the absence of dangerous animal species make the diving a singular experience.
